The Hidden Benefits of Family
So, today after work I was invited to happy hour with my coworkers. I usually never go, but this time, I was tempted. I ended up going home instead, even though I called and couldn’t get my wife/daughter. As I pull in the driveway, they were leaving for Tae Kwon Do (karate) class. My daughter pays by the month and can go when she wants. Anyway, I hop in their car and go to her class. I’m so glad I went. My daughter has come so far in just a few short weeks. She isn’t the most coordinated kid in the world, but that’s changing. She sparred for the first time, and I got to watch EVERYTHING. That was the best hour I spent all week. What’s even better is simply watching your child take off and begin to soar. AMAZING.
We topped the evening off with some high-class dinner (fish sticks) and a Disney movie in the casita (out building). I had a blast. I finally had that beer–it was just at 9 pm and my two girls (wife & daughter) were passed out in the casita from a week’s exhaustion. What a relaxing and wonderful evening. I guess I really am a family man. What a simple, but wonderful night.
Keep prepping and building that homestead,
Dan
