About Me

“Dan Vamos is many things.  A father, an English teacher, a homesteader, a DIY enthusiast, a prepper and a patriotic American…

Along the way he founded a website called, “Homestead Dividends”, designed to help the average person transform their home into a true homestead and get more out of their homes both while living in them and when it comes time to sell them.”

–Jack Spirko

I’m Dan Vamos. Thank you for visiting my site.  I’ve been teaching for almost two decades and have spent even a longer time living with the land and enjoying dirt between my toes.  I grew up in Western Pennsylvania and enjoyed my upbringing on five acres surrounded by farms on three sides.  I enjoyed fishing and exploring the forest behind my house.  There was a waterfall and a creek behind our property, and I spent many spring, summer, fall and winter days exploring the creeks, trails, parks, farmlands, and woods.  I’d hunt wild berries with my buddy Scott. I played soccer, fished for bass and sunfish (mostly), caught crayfish with my hands, became proficient with my bb-gun and slingshot, learned how to waste a day in the woods and never get lost and never really waste a moment, raised several nubian goats, caught snakes, and even had a pet crow.  I picked-up many mechanical abilities by hanging around my dad while working on his “Ponderosa.”

I’m an avid camper, D-I-Yer, Runner (who completed 13 marathons and numerous shorter runs), fisherman, husband, father, and Christian.

I’ve appeared on such programs as The Survival Podcast, Today’s Survival Show, and The Down and Dirty with Frank Fontana.

Podcast Music

Been liking my podacst surf-rockabilly rock-n-roll intro?  It’s The Crevulators, who provide this podcast safe music for us podcasters to use probably in the hopes of getting some attention. Well, I’m giving them their due.  Their music is great and I’ll have some other tracks in future podcasts.
