How’s the Arab Spring Workin’ for Ya?

You know, as the idiots in lamestream media spouted off about the arab spring and how wonderful it was..(what was happening in the Middle East) Governments fell and our media and government rejoiced…and my wife and I watched and worried.

As the insanity unfolded and riots ensued, I knew it wasn’t going to end well. Say what you will, there is a lot of death and destruction unfolding.

I’m sure the case can be made that the average citizen of those countries will be better off…but can they/we be sure?

All I know is, the more we muddle in the Middle East, the worse off things get. I’d love to see a restrained foreign policy that lets us step back and let the people in those countries fight it out for themselves ( we did support the uprisings, you know).

Can we declare victory in Afghanistan and Iraq and leave already? Can we stop spending a BILLION dollars a day over there?

The stupidity and waste are unintelligible…and unimaginable. And what do we have to show for our policies in Afghanistan and Iraq? Countries that resent our presence and hate our soldiers…and whose wars bankrupted us.

Sometimes the best answer to a complicated problem is a simple one: don’t get involved.

That’s what I espouse and why I support (mostly) libertarian principles on this matter. Like a domestic dispute, when you insert yourself in the middle of it, the combatants may turn on you. Sometimes discretion is the better part of valor.

I thought we weren’t going to get involved in nation building…but here we are. Why do we think we will succeed where the Romans, English, French, Spanish, Dutch, Portuguese, Belgians, and a cast of thousands (countries) have failed?

Are we not students of history? Can we not see with our eyes? Why on earth do we get involved in all of these disasters?

Lastly, I know one other thing: Israel is our ONLY true friend in the region…we had better start treating them better. Our president is spending too much time apologizing to our enemies and offending our friends. That’s not politics, just the truth.
